7 Best Wine Bars in Paris: Solo Traveller’s Guide 2025

Two glasses of expensive French Wine

It’s no secret that Paris has my heart. Over the past year of layovers and explorations, I’ve made it my personal mission to uncover the city’s best-kept secrets. And let me tell you, my favourite pastime has become diving headfirst into the Parisian wine bar scene. There’s something magical about sipping on a glass of exquisite French wine, surrounded by the hum of local chatter. It’s a quintessential Parisian experience and one that’s surprisingly perfect for a solo traveller like me.

I’ve spent countless evenings perched on bar stools, notebook in hand, discovering hidden gems and local favourites. It’s been a journey of taste and discovery and I’m so excited to share my findings with you. So, grab a glass of your favourite vino and let’s take a little tour of my seven must-visit wine bars in Paris.

1. Aux Deux Amis

My first discovery, and still a firm favourite, is Aux Deux Amis @auxdeusamis in the trendy 11th arrondissement. The moment I walked in, I was captivated by its retro decor and vintage copper bar. It’s an intimate and friendly spot, a true haven for locals who know their wine. As a solo traveller, I felt right at home being able to choose from sitting at a cozy modern bar with counter seats or at the sidewalk tables. Their focus is on natural wines and the staff are more than happy to guide you through their excellent selection. Pair your wine with some of their incredible charcuterie!

2. Le Baron Rouge

For a truly authentic and lively Parisian experience, you have to visit Le Baron Rouge. This place is always buzzing, and for a good reason. It’s a no-frills, standing-room-only kind of bar where you’ll find locals rubbing shoulders and enjoying fantastic wine. Their wine selection is huge and they have a great array of charcuterie and cheese. If you’re there between October and April, don’t miss the Sunday oyster platters. It’s a bit chaotic, but that’s all part of its charm.

3. Chez Nous

Nestled near the Pont Neuf, Chez Nous is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. It’s a small, cozy wine bar with a very un-elitist and friendly vibe. They serve Biodynamic wines with Spanish cold cuts & cheese. It’s a chic bar with counter seats & tables outside (perfect for solo dining). The staff are incredibly welcoming and will help you find the perfect glass of natural wine to suit your taste. While they only serve charcuterie and cheese, the quality is exceptional. I loved sitting on their summer terrace, watching the world go by feeling like a true Parisian.

4. La Cave des Abbesses

I stumbled upon this hidden gem, La Cave des Abbesses in Montmartre, and it felt like discovering a secret. From the outside, it looks like a simple wine shop, but venture to the back and you’ll find a cozy, hidden wine cellar. The low-key vibe and moody lighting make it the perfect spot for a quiet glass of wine. It’s a great place to escape the tourist crowds and enjoy a moment of tranquility. Their wine list is extensive, and they offer a selection of tapas-style small plates.

5. Wine Therapy

For a more modern and chic wine bar experience, head to Wine Therapy in the 9th arrondissement. The minimalist decor puts all the focus on the wine, and the owner is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. I had a wonderful time chatting with him and getting his recommendations. The atmosphere is calm and sophisticated, making it a great place for a solo traveller to relax and enjoy a glass of high-quality wine. Their Chablis is exceptional! I love the high tables that are comfortable for one, or just sit at the bar.

6. Divvino Marais

Located in the heart of the Marais, Divvino Marais is a charming wine shop with a cosy bar downstairs where they hold wine tastings for groups of at least 4 people in their magnificent 16th-century basement cellar. I booked a tasting session with a group of friends and we had a fantastic time. The red brick ceilings and soft, ambient lighting create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The tasting includes four of the finest wines from four different regions, paired with delicious French specialties (cheeses, terrines, caviar, breads, and charcuterie), for a complete experience! . It’s a great way to learn about French wine in a fun and relaxed setting.

7. L’Etna

If you’re a fan of natural wines, L’Etna in the 6th arrondissement is a must-visit. This tiny, chic bar is dedicated to natural wines from small producers. The atmosphere is homely and intimate, and the staff are incredibly passionate about their products. I loved their selection of orange wines and their delicious small plates. The sardines are a must-try! It’s a super tiny spot, so be prepared to get cosy with your neighbours.

I hope this little guide inspires you to embark on your own Parisian wine adventure. Each of these bars offers a unique experience, and they all have a special place in my heart. So, next time you’re in Paris, be sure to raise a glass for me!
