After a long-haul flight and a cool Vancouver breeze, we headed straight to Cardero’s Restaurant in Coal Harbour for a relaxed Saturday night dinner — and it couldn’t have been a better welcome.
📍 Cardero’s Restaurant – 1583 Coal Harbour Quay, Vancouver, BC
Set right on the Coal Harbour waterfront, Cardero’s offers unbeatable views of the marina, seaplanes coming and going, and the North Shore Mountains in the distance. Even in the height of a Vancouver summer, the air felt cool and crisp — almost like winter back in Australia. I couldn’t help but wish the fire had been lit at the restaurant (though I’m sure locals would’ve found that a bit odd in July!).
We arrived just in time to catch the live music, which was mellow and perfectly suited to the waterfront setting — creating an ambient backdrop without overpowering conversation. Cardero’s is one of those Vancouver restaurants that strikes a balance between casual dining and West Coast elegance, and it shows in every detail.
We opted for a couple of sharing plates and two glasses of Pinot Noir from their thoughtful wine list. The food was light, fresh, and full of flavour — perfect for grazing after a long flight. While the menu focuses on Pacific Northwest seafood, you’ll also find options like flatbreads, grilled meats, and seasonal vegetables. There’s something for every appetite, whether you’re just popping in for wine and bites or sitting down for a full three-course meal.
✨ Highlights:
- Live music on weekends 🎶
- Views of the harbour and marina at sunset 🌅
- Excellent wine list (especially the BC Pinot Noir) 🍷
