Tapas in Redfern

Last night, we decided to try out a new tapas-style bar on Redfern Street, Redfern, called Mezepotamia. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed when we arrived around 5 PM. The venue has a spacious layout, lovely décor, and standout flooring with a bar space that adds to the welcoming vibe. An hour later this place was packed and it is obviously a favourite with the locals.

We started our meal with the eggplant dip, halloumi, and roasted beets. The eggplant dip had a smoky flavour which we both loved, we are big fans of eggplant. The halloumi was absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, perfectly soft on the inside—and easily the highlight of the evening. The roasted beets were flavourful. Later we ordered the lamb shish and onion dulma and they were the best. It was very hard to decide what to have, it all looked amazing.

My friend ordered a Negroni, while I sipped on a Shiraz. I had a taste of the Negroni, and it was spot-on—smooth and well-balanced. I’m already planning to return when I’m not the designated driver to explore their cocktail menu, especially that Negroni. We have also been told to try the Charcoal Margarita.

The staff were friendly and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. Mezzepotamia is definitely a place to revisit, and I can’t wait to try more of their menu, particularly the cocktails.

If you’re looking for a charming spot in Redfern for a laid-back evening with tasty tapas, Mezepotamia is worth checking out! From 4pm to 5:30pm on Friday and Saturday evenings, stop by to enjoy some special Mezze and drinks while soaking up the sunset vibes. No need to book, just head on in and check out the menu.
