Sydney’s Opera Bar has long been a favourite of mine, and this visit did not disappoint. Despite the slightly rainy yet sunny weather, we managed to snag a cosy table sheltered from the drizzle. The temperature was just right, creating the perfect setting for a leisurely lunch.
I sipped on a lovely glass of wine while my partner enjoyed a cold beer as we waited for our food to arrive. Our first dish, the cauliflower popcorn, was an absolute delight. Covered in chili honey and topped with manchego, it practically melted in our mouths. The mix of sweet and spicy, with the sharpness of the cheese, was perfection—we’ll definitely be ordering that again.
Next came the sashimi platter. It was lovely and fresh, although the salmon was a bit on the fatty side. Still, it was an enjoyable dish that paired nicely with our drinks. We also shared the spring pea and mint salad, which was light, refreshing, and perfect for the day.
The view from the Opera Bar is iconic, and it was great to take it all in without the usual crowd and noise. We spent hours people-watching, enjoying the food, and soaking up the atmosphere. Just a word of warning—keep an eye out for the seagulls. They’re sneaky!
All in all, it was a gorgeous afternoon, and I can’t wait to return. If you haven’t been to Opera Bar for a relaxed lunch with a view, you’re missing out!
